Previous Events

There have been two previous events for this merit badge hosted by scouters in Central Iowa. The last event was held in 2002 with more than 900 boys attending. Follow the link below to the power point presentation from the campfire event in 2002.

Iowa Railroad Camporee 2011

Sponsored by the Broken Arrow, Tomaha, and Raccon River Valley Districts, Mid-Iowa Council, BSA.

Boys from Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraksa, Kansas, and Missouri numbering slighlty over 1000 gathered in Boone, IA on April 29, 2011. There were joined by railroaders both professional and hobby related from Rhode Island, Texas, California, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, and IOWA!

Railroading was the theme. Railroading Merit Badge, a Train Ride on the Boone and Scenic Valley Railroad, and the Union Pacific 2010, were all on the agenda.

The program staff all reports having a grand time. We look forward to our next oportunity to work with scouts, maybe in your area.
