ICOR BOXING CLUB

fist
First opened in 2000, the ICOR Boxing Club is the only USA Boxing registered club in the Iowa City/Coralville/North Liberty area. We are located at Fit2Live, 123 Highway 1 West, Iowa City. Head Coach Adam Pollack has trained two national champions, sisters Emily and Katy Klinefelter, as well as several regional and state champions.

The ICOR Boxing Club has three USA Boxing certified coaches and has trained boxers at a variety of different levels. Some boxers just box recreationally, some box for fitness, some compete at a local and state level and others compete at a national and international level. We have had many state, regional, national and even international champions. We train men, women, boys and girls of all ability levels.

Activities done during training sessions vary on a day to day basis. Our boxers generally hit the bags, shadow box, jump rope, practice bag drills, participate in sparring drills and spar. Beginners are never forced to do anything they are uncomfortable with.

Pricing--
$45 per month for unlimited weekly classes, excluding Katy's Boxing for Beginners class. Refer a new member and receive one month free, see Fit2Live front desk for details.
New boxers will need three things to begin training: a mouth guard, a plastic or leather jump rope, and hand-wraps (2 pair if they are the short kind). These items can all be purchased at any major sporting goods store or from ringside.com. We supply the gloves, bags and headgear.

Where: The boxing room at Fit2Live, 123 Highway 1 West, Iowa City

New: Grappling & Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes!

We now have over 500 square feet of grappling mats for the practice of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), grappling, and MMA. We currently have at least 6 or 7 competitive MMA fighters training at our club. No Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu classes are taught by blue belt Steve Smith and amateur MMA fighter Dan Almeida, every Monday and Wednesday from 5:30-6:30pm. Mats are open for optional rolling (grappling sparring) after class beginning at 6:30pm Mondays and Wednesdays.

*For those with no prior experience, we highly recommend starting with Katy’s Beginning Boxing Class. This class is designed for people new to punching and boxing and will give you the basic skills and knowledge necessary to participate in the Thai Boxing and regular boxing classes.
