Iowa Model Steam Engineers

History of the IMSE Inc.

The IMSE was founded in 1954 in Waterloo at the home of L.G. Shuster. The original track 360' long was 3/4" scale only and with an inline turn table and steaming spur. It then moved to LaportCity with a 7.5" gauge ground track and highline. From there it moved to Cedar Rapids for 37 years on the land of P.G. Scott. It had a 950' ground track and 524' highline. The club track has again been moved, this time to Mt Pleasant. This location has room for the club to grow into the future.
