No one knows who invented the first spinning top, but evidence clearly indicates tops dating back as far as 2000 B.C. Ancient art work depicts Chinese, Asians, and Indians spinning tops of all kinds. Great works of literature by Homer and Shakespeare mention tops. Regardless of its true origin, the spinning top has always held a fascination for mankind.
