This project, and this page, started when our 1964 Chrysler New Yorker found its way to us, on July 24, 2003

When a car sets out in the desert sun for 23 years with no protection, the paint and the interior takes a beating. This car was no exception..

The interior was rather hammered. This was not unexpected. But, it was very complete, always a good starting point.

Just have to love that push-button transmission, those are the buttons on the left of this picture. Something important to remember about this car is there is very little plastic in it. All those buttons, knobs, vents, and levers are metal. That means that most of them are OK, even after the exposure to the elements they have received. The steering wheel, on the other hand, is plastic rimmed, and extremely messed up. A real shame, because I bet that square'ish wheel will be hard to replace.
The hole in the dashboard under the clock is for the lighter. I have it, it just was not in place for this picture.
The upper dash is cracked in three places, and I am currently trying to find a replacement for it, no luck so far. So, if you happen to know someplace that makes repro dashes for these, hit my e-mail below and let me know.
