TIRES
Here
is a list of tire
sizes that were original equipment, or might be a reasonable fit, on
Colt-Arrow-Challenger-Sapporo. The static diameter is a
calculation only and does not reflect any particular manufacturer's
actual dimensions. The rotations per mile is also a function of
the static diameter. In reality, the rot/mile will be higher
because the effective rolling diameter is always less than the static
and varies with series, air pressure, load, tread wear, etc.
Manufacturer's specs indicate that many tires have a rolling diameter
as much as 3% less than the nominal value. The main value
of the chart is in showing the relationship between sizes.

Whoa! What's this? A friend in Kansas stuffed some ancient NOS Gillette HR78-14 snow tires on Challenger 14x5.5 wheels and put them on the back of a Colt wagon. These tires undoubtedly call for a wider wheel, but they do fit in the wheel well without rubbing (most of the time). These tires alone constitute almost an 11% overdrive compared to stock. | ||

I am using this size on #65650 wheels on one of my '80 wagons. The ride is a little firm and the steering a bit twitchy. I would not recommend this setup for everyday use. |
