Planking at the stem

We've finished the first layer.  We had to belt sand the near side planking to form a smooth surface with the stem, so the far side planking could lay over both the stem and the near side.  Here is where we failed to think ahead.  In chapter 6 we discovered that we should have detached the ribbands from the stem just before planking over them.
