using my Microsoft Excel®
spreadsheet.


IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:

The compressed file has been given the file names "YY_1040.zip" , where YY is represents the tax year.

No PASSWORD is needed!
If a cell is protected, it is because it contains a calculated value.
Many times, a manual override cell is provided if you need to override the calculated value.  
After a while, you will figure out that the spreadsheet is completely functional without needing to unprotect it. 
Please don't ask for the password.

 

 

IMPORTANT TIP
Manually enter your data.
Pasting data into this Excel spreadsheet can cause undesirable cell property changes.
For example, pasting can cause normally unlocked cells to become locked.
Also, pasting can create links to closed or missing spreadsheets.
The small benefit gained by pasting is not worth the large problems it can cause.

If you still really want to paste data, use Paste Special, Values.
Doing so will not change cell properties but will not always work when merged cells are involved.

 

Check your results carefully and let me know if you find any errors!

*Due to the fact that Microsoft Excel limits the number of cell format changes, I have been forced to split out part of the spreadsheet.  I chose Schedules D-1, Continuation Sheet for Schedule D, and E, Supplemental Income and Loss, and Form 2441, Child and Dependent Care Expenses, because they contain a lot of format changes and they are mostly "stand alone" schedules.  This made it possible to add the new Schedule M calculation!
