About the ASC and Committee A Liaison
The Assembly of State Conferences (ASC) is the umbrella organization for state AAUP conferences. The ASC provides training and helps to coordinate state activities in areas such as government relations, academic freedom and tenure, membership development, and communications. The ASC also supports the work of state conferences through Per Capita Grants, Membership Development Grants, and scholarships to the Summer Institute.
The work of the ASC is coordinated by an elected executive committee consisting of a chair, vice chair, secretary, treasurer, and two members-at-large. One of the members-at-large is the liaison to national Committee A on Academic Freedom and Tenure. The Committee A liaison attends the meetings of that committee, works to promote good communication between Committee A and its staff and the state conferences, and is responsible for "assisting and coordinating Academic Freedom and Tenure activities in the state conferences."
The current Committee A liaison is Greg Scholtz, whom you should contact by e-mail or phone (319-352-8224) if you have any questions or concerns regarding state Committee A matters.
