Stanton, Iowa’s Legion
Santa, 2007
Photos and Article by Diana Kia
For the 58th consecutive year, Santa Claus made a special, early
stop in Stanton, arranged by Ernie Johnson Post #406 of the American Legion. There
was lots of snow and ice to greet the jolly old fellow, but of course he's used
to that! More important to him were the happy smiles of the children - about 80
of them this year, second-grade or younger.
Many older brothers and sisters, as well as moms, dads, grandpas and
grandmas enjoyed his visit almost as much as the little ones!
Each child received
a small early gift - an orange, a bit of candy and a toy. Then Santa asked what
he or she would like for Christmas, and reminded them to continue to be good,
because he would be watching!
After visiting in
Stanton homes, Santa also met with country children at the Legion hall.
Last but not least,
Santa stopped in at the Stanton Care Center to renew old acquaintances, because
no matter how many years pass by, Santa Clause never forgets any of his
children!
HO HO HO!!
