Software I Hate
Okay, this probably isn't a "PC" thing to do, but I really
don't care.
- Aladdin products - I just hate 'em.
- Their look is ugly, almost Windoze-like (yes, even more ugly
than this page;).
- Having to name archives before adding files. Jeez, just do it the way
Compact Pro does it.
- StuffIt .sea's: Annoying splash screen that you have to dismiss. I
don't have time for stupid copyright notices that don't go away by
themselves.
- StuffIt .sea's: Annoying dialog that says "Installation was
successful!" and a single button titled "Quit". Duh. No
shit.
- Micro$oft products - Need I say more?
- SpeedyFinder - Patches things that have no reason to be patched
real-time, where editing a resource is much easier and doesn't take
up RAM or slow down the system.
- Doom - If I really want to play a game with ugly DOS graphics, then
I'll buy a DOS box. Dark Forces and many other games are
afflicted with the same disease. I can't believe that these companies can
pay a bunch of programmers to do the complicated task of porting the
game, but they can't hire a college computer art student for a week or
two to redo the graphics.
- Corel crap - Jeeezus, I just don't see why this junk is popular. It's
crap! It's bug-laden! It's mismatched! Even M$ crap is better. Corel
didn't even write most of it, but they sure love to stick their
ugly logos and shit all over it.
