Howdy, I'm MuffinHead (known to my parents as "Steve Mills"). I'm just
your average combination Mac geek and drummer. I spend most of my time
writing software, creating 3D images and MooV's, cruising around the net/web,
playing drums with The Dial Tones (well, I used to), and making fun of
people on TV with my girlfriend (yes, we have no life:).
Armpit Studios is the name of -- for lack of a better term --
my "company". Just about any work of art I create is done under the name
of Armpit Studios, whether it be software, graphics, sound, music, woodworking,
etc. The name came from my first apartment in Ottumwa, IA, which is known
as the Armpit of Iowa, where I spent countless late-night hours recording
really strange music. Each place of residence after that just incremented
the Roman numeral designation, hence, this is the 9th place I've lived
since then.
I grew up in Keota,
a small town in Iowa (1k people on a good day). I spent most of my post-high-school
years in Iowa City. I'm a Minnesota newbie. Good thing my favorite football
team in elementary school was the Vikings. :)
I work for Multi-Ad Services, Inc. They pay me money to use a Mac to
write code for Mac applications. Is this America or what? :).
I somewhat reluctantly drive a Ford F-150 pickup truck. I'd rather have
a Mopar, like one of those incredibly burly Ram trucks with a V10, or a
Land Rover (an old one), or a Hummer (hmm, maybe a real HumVee with a .50
on top:). But, I stuck a manly, shiny aluminum toolbox on the
back, and it came with a really beefy plow, and I put a good stereo in
it, so it doesn't suck, even if it is a Ford.
Update, 97\07\16: Sold the Ford, bought
a Dodge Ram 2500 with a V10. I am a man.
Update, 2001\12\07: Sold the 2500, bought a
Dodge Ram 1500 Sport OffRoad extended cab. Less torque, but I never tow
anything anyway.
Some of my favorite things
Cheesecake, peppermint shakes from Great Midwestern Ice Cream Co., good
greasy cheeseburgers, Pepsi, grape Pop-tarts, Mopars (Viper GTS', Cobras,
most '70s musclecars, Ram trucks, anything with a hemi), Chevy's
(late '60s Chevelles and '57 Bel Aires and Nomads), Porsches, HumVee's,
Lawn-boy's,
drag racing (John Force), working on electrical things with the power still
on, small towns, trains, getting dirty and greasy, The Red Green Show,
Twin Peaks, The New Yankee Workshop (Norm is god), The Tick ( "you're the
guy who made my head hot!"), The Andy Griffith Show, Mac's, ThrustMaster
Flight Control System and Weapons Control System, TDK magnetic media, quality
clothing (Polo, Tommy Hilfiger, and Izod), comfy hats like Gomer Pyle's
(not Goober Pyle's), Vans shoes (white #95's), Laurel & Hardy,
gargoyles (just gargoyles in general), the Easter Island heads, expensive
furniture, well-made fonts (Copperplate, Lithos, Monaco 9-pt), and small
breasts.
Some things I love to hate
Potatoes, domestic beer, drunk people, Coke, vegetarians with a vengeance,
Jerry Seinfeld, Mentos commercials, rap, hip-hop, country music, Fords,
Mazdas, Toyotas, semi trucks, bad drivers (usually found driving the previous
entry), stupid people, trendy people, telemarketers, DOS boxes, Windoze,
Bill Gates and his little Micro$oft thing, poorly
written software, Gravis MouseSticks, Fuji and 3M magnetic media, Roland
electronic percussion products, patchouli oil, people who wear patchouli
oil, people who can't spell good or have bad grammars [sic], the absurdity
of the English language (which leads to the previous entry), tacky furniture,
ugly fonts (those trendy fonts with rounded exteriors and square interiors),
and big breasts.
