Looking at New River Gorge from one of the viewing platforms. It
was really foggy that day, and all the fog hadn't burned off the sides of
the mountains yet. Notice that bridge way down there? Keep
that in mind, cause we'll get to it. |

New River Gorge Bridge, again from the platform. This is the
bridge idiots.. uh, people... jump off once a year on the 3rd Saturday
in October. They use parachutes or bungee jump. Never mind
that the river is 876 feet DOWN. |

This picture was taken from the Canyon Rim Visitor's Center.
This looks a lot like the first picture, but you'll notice you can see the
rapids at the far end, but not the bridge, so it's a little different
view. |

A close up view of a set of rapids in the river as seen from the
Canyon Rim Visitors Center.
|

We drove down a little one-lane, one-way road to see the old bridge
(remember the bridge in the first picture?). When we walked out on it, we saw some rafts coming down the
river. |

Here one of the rafts had just passed under the bridge. A lady
riding in it hollered up,
"DON'T DO IT! It isn't worth it!" |

This is the section of river just past the bridge, with rapids at the
far end.
|

Here are the rafts headed for the rapids just past the bridge. I
didn't get a picture of the rafts going through the rapids with my digital
camera. I was using the 35mm, cause they go through there
fast! So no time to be switching back and forth with cameras.
|

Here's a close-up picture of the rapids taken from the bridge.
Hopefully, when my pictures come back from the "regular" camera,
I'll have some decent pictures of the rafts going through the rapids.
