Board Meeting Minutes
Nov 7, 2011
The Sheffield Village Board met 7pm on
Monday, Nov 7, 2011, at the Sheffield Community Center.
Present: Mayor William Rosenow, Trustees, Wesley
Barron, Harley Barton, Sue Bromme, Chester Fritz, Adrienne Ries Keith
VanderMeersch, Clerk: Pat Stier and Treasurer: Joyce Cranford
Absent: none
Board Motions:
- To approve
the minutes from the Oct 17 (Fritz/ VanderMeersch) Motion passed 6-0
- To
approve bills for $20,219.65 (Barton/ Fritz) Motion passed 6-0
- To
approve Treasurers report (Ries/ Bromme) Motion passed 6-0
- To
approve donation request of $250.00 to the Sheffield Historical Society
from the band fund (Ries /VanderMeersch) Motion passed
- To
adjourn regular board meeting at 7:47pm (Barton /VanderMeersch)
Committee meetings scheduled:
Engineer: -
- Jordan
Ellena from NCICG informed the board that
Sheffield had been awarded $350,000 CDAP grant for water and sewer
improvements. No funds can be spent
on this project until after the 30 day public comment period. Engineer, Aaron Full was also present
for any questions.
Public –
- Mike
Bell voiced concerns about a recent rash of vandalism, burglaries, fire,
and stolen mail. Board informed him
that our police department is aware and that the public needs to be more
vigilant and call 9-1-1 when they see any suspicious activity.
Buildings and Grounds -
- The
board denied use of the community center for a 3-day per week aerobics
class.
- The
bell tower has been painted on the old Village Hall, the painter can be
paid for this portion of the job.
Cemetery –
Finance/Band Committee –
- Board
made and passed motion to give $250 from the band fund to the Sheffield
Historical Society for their Christmas Music Service.
Ordinance and Resolutions –
Complaint Committee –
- There
is a resident that lights their burn barrel at 5:30am and then leaves for
work. Police will give the violator
a copy of the burn ordinance.
- Letters
have been given to others that have violated the leaf burning ordinance.
- Someone
other than village employees has been starting the burn area at the
landscape dump on fire.
Police Committee –
Streets and Alleys Committee –
Water Committee -
Garbage & Sewer Committee –
- There
will be no garbage pickup on Friday, Nov 11, due to transfer station being
closed, garbage will be picked up on Monday.
Other business –
- It was
noted that as of Jan 1, 2012 electronic items cannot be put in the garbage
and taken to landfill areas.
Superintend Report –
- Report
submitted
- Mowing
is done – working on putting mowers away for the winter
- Christmas
decorations are going up – Monday, Nov 7
- Leaves
have been mulched in both parks
- Trying
to get to work on the water meters
- Doing
service work to the trucks and getting them ready to plow snow
- Going
to have some work on the dumpster area at Z Best Café. They are on gravel now and are hard to
move around. Have spoken with Erin several times and he feels he
shouldn’t have to put them on concrete. The dumpsters used to be on
concrete. The owner moved them to
install a walk in cooler on the existing concrete.
- As
of 1/1/2012 we will no longer be able to take any electrical appliances
to the transfer station. New IEPA law.
- Had
B & B Lawn Service repair both weed eaters.
- We
have some other people possibly interested in helping out this winter.
