Board Meeting Minutes

Oct 17, 2011

 

The Sheffield Village Board met 7pm on Monday, Oct 17, 2011, at the Sheffield Community Center. 

 

Present: Mayor William Rosenow, Trustees, Wesley Barron, Harley Barton, Sue Bromme, Chester Fritz, Adrienne Ries Keith VanderMeersch, Clerk: Pat Stier and Treasurer: Joyce Cranford

Absent: none

 

Board Motions:

  • To approve the minutes from the Oct 3 (Fritz/Barton) Motion passed 6-0
  • To approve bills for $22,202.31 (Ries/Barton) Motion passed 6-0
  • To approve Treasurers report (VanderMeersch/ Barron) Motion passed 6-0
  • To approve donation of $100.00 to the Celebrate Sheffield, Christmas Open House (Fritz/VanderMeersch) Motion passed
  • To approve hiring A Cut Above to remove a tree on S Washington St. at a cost of $350.00 (VanderMeersch/Bromme) Motion passed
  • To adjourn regular board meeting at 7:30pm (Ries/Fritz)

  • Not present –

 

Public –

  • Trick or Treat hours have been set for Monday, October 31 from 5 pm to 7 pm.  At 7pm there will be a Halloween party and costume judging at the Fire Station.
  • Motion was made and passed to donate $100.00 to “Celebrate Sheffield” Open House event.  Check is to be made out to Sheffield Pride.

Finance/Band Committee –

  • None

 

Ordinance and Resolutions –

  • None

 

Complaint Committee –

  • Resident on S Park has a trailer of sorts that needs to be removed.  Another resident on S Park has a shed that is falling in and junk in the back yard that needs to be cleaned up.  House on E Chestnut also has junk that needs to be cleaned up.  Question was asked as to how many dogs one resident may have – a person on S Mason reportedly has 4 to 5 dogs in the house.  The police officers will be asked to approach these residents on the complaints.

 

Police Committee –

  • No report. 

 

 

Streets and Alleys Committee –

  • Three bids were received on taking down a tree, cleaning up and removing the stump on S Washington.  Bids received were Guither Tree Service $690, A Plus $760 and A Cut Above $350.  Board moved and passed to accept the bid from A Cut Above.
  • It was noted that people are burning on the Village right of way.  Village residents are to be reminded that per our ordinance burning on the right of way is not allowed. 

 

Water Committee -

  • None

 

Garbage & Sewer Committee –

  • None

Other business –

  • Historical Society request for band fund will be on the agenda for the first meeting in Nov.
  • Jordan Ellena, Community Development Coordinator, North Central Illinois Council of Governments will be at our next meeting.

 

Superintend Report –

  • Report submitted
    • As of 10/17/11 only 1 bid has been received on tree and stump removal
    • Burning leaves on the right of way is a big issue
    • Will be working on the Christmas decorations to get them up for Nov 12
    • Mowing is almost complete
    • Trying to get started on the water meters, have been very busy
    • Repairing sidewalks and yards from repairing shut off valves
    • Turned paperwork on regulatory sign replacement
    • Clean up days are finished , hauled in 3.5 loads to the transfer station
    • Need to do some weed-eating at the cemetery
