Board Meeting Minutes - July 6, 2009

 

 

The Sheffield Village Board met Monday, July 6, 2009 at the Sheffield Community Center. 

Present            Mayor: Rosenow

Trustees:  Bromme, Barton, Ries, Cernovich, Bertetto, VanderMeersch,

Clerk: Stier

Treasurer: Cranford

 

Board approved

  • Minutes from June 15 meeting, bills and treasurers report
  • Repairs to the south side of village storage building by Camey Construction for $450.00 (No votes: Ries and Cernovich)
  • To proceed with getting the tax deed to the Parson’s property
  • To purchase new forks for the backhoe for $1500.00

 

Committee meetings scheduled are:

  • Police committee, Tuesday, July 7, 5:00pm at the community center.
  • Finance committee, Wednesday, July 22, 5:00pm at the community center

 

Robbie Knudsen, owner of Robbies’, approached the board to consider changing the liquor ordinance to allow bar/taverns to stay open for business after 10:00pm on Sundays.  He feels his business could profit from staying open until midnight or 1:00am.  Action was tabled.

 

Trustee Ries brought up the issue of smoking inside of the bars/taverns. The Mayor previously sent a letter to all liquor establishments notifying them that it is illegal to smoke inside.

 

Rosenow presented a bid from Haerr to remove the well house cement from the alley.  Bid was over $14,000.  Action was tabled.

 

Ordinance committee reported on their meeting on June 23.  There recommendations were:

  • That the agenda, minutes, bills, and treasurers reports be available 48 hours prior to the board meeting
  • Adoption of a new complaint form
  • To consider hiring the county animal control person for dogs and cats running at large
  • To give new renters/owners a packet of information, clerk showed the current letter that is given to new renters/owners
  • To develop an ordinance for rental inspection and permit
  • To pass an ordinance that the trustees would receive no pay, Mayor reported that elected officials cannot vote to change the pay until 180 days prior to the next board election

 

Trustee Cernovich will contact S & S Tree Service to remove one tree and to cut out dead limbs on another tree for a price of $575.00

 

Board went over the proposed Appropriations Ordinance with a couple of changes noted.

 

The next board meeting will be held on Monday, July 20, 2009 at the Sheffield Community Center.
