Board Meeting Minutes
Dec 21, 2009
The
Sheffield Village Board met Monday, December 21, 2009 at the Sheffield
Community Center.
Present:
Mayor Rosenow, Trustees Bromme, Barton, Ries, Cernovich, Bertetto, and VanderMeersch.
Treasurer: Cranford and Clerk: Stier.

Committee
meetings scheduled:
Special
plaque and gift certificates were presented to Leif Porter, village
superintendent for 30 plus years of service to the Village of Sheffield.
Auditor
- Auditor Dave Wilcoxson
presented the FY 08-09 audit report.
Buildings
and Grounds -
- Mayor Rosenow has
called Attorney Tracy on the Larry Williams property. Rosenow feels that there are four areas
that Williams is in contempt of court.
Rosenow has left pictures of the property at Tracy’s office.
- Trustee
Cernovich reported Tom Otto looked at the outside door to the offices and
suggested that the village put kick plates on both sides of the door; he
also had given a price on a commercial grade door to Cernovich. Rosenow noted that he had talked with Jerry
VanDamme and he had quoted a commercial door for over $900. The Board will have both give a quote on
a non commercial steel door from Menards and the cost of installation.

Ordinance
and Resolutions –
- Ordinance
2009-12-21-01 to levy property taxes for FY 09-10 was moved and approved.
- Ordinance
2009-12-21-01A to abate taxes levied to pay the Alternate Revenue Bond
Series 1996 was moved and approved.
- Motion was made
and approved to extend New Years Eve hours for the taverns to 2am.
Complaint
–
- Trustee Ries
questioned when the liquor licenses became due. Clerk Stier stated that Casey’s,
Chestnut St Inn and Z-Best are annually at April and that 6 & 34,
Phylly’s, the Stop Off, and Robbies are semi-annually at April and
October. Ries noted that Wyanet is
considering using the license as a way to insure that the bars comply with
the no smoking law. Rosenow stated
it is difficult to enforce the law at this time. Rosenow will inform Robbies to comply
with the law. No further action was
taken.
- There have been
complaints of snowmobilers going off the snow routes. Notice will be put in the Focus
reminding snowmobilers of the routes.
Ries noted that there are some young people on go – carts on Mill
Road and she is afraid there will be an accident.
- Truckers are
still jake breaking.

- Motion was made
to hire Chamlin & Associates to prepare construction drawings and
specifications for various infrastructure improvements throughout the
Village at a cost not to exceed $9000.
The
next board meeting will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010 at the Sheffield
Community Center.
