Board Meeting Minutes
Nov 16, 2009
The
Sheffield Village Board met Monday, November 16, 2009 at the Sheffield
Community Center.
Present:
Mayor Rosenow, Trustees Bromme, Barton, Ries, Cernovich, Bertetto, and VanderMeersch.
Treasurer Cranford, and Clerk Stier. Engineer Jeff

Engineer
- Engineer Jeff
Snyder inquired about the status of the survey. Trustee Ries reported that she had
called NCICG and that we were over the 51%, but they were still compiling
them. Snyder will talk with
Superintendent Porter on the projects that were discussed previously.
Buildings
and Grounds -
- Mayor Rosenow
noted that all we have to do on the Parson’s property is to take a picture
showing it is vacant and file papers to have it removed from the tax role. We do not have to make it into a “park”.
- Board approved a
letter to the Bureau Valley School with addition of a request to have a deadline
of 24 months to demolish the building.
Cemetery
–
Finance/Band
–
- Wilcoxson and
Associates, village auditors, will be at the next meeting.
- Letter from the
Sheffield Historical Society requesting $200 donation from the Band fund
for their Christmas Service in the historic Danish Lutheran Church. Motion
was made to donate $200 from the band fund.
Ordinance
and Resolutions -
- Appointed the
Clerk, Pat Stier as the FOIA officer.
There will be some on-line training requirement next year.
Complaint
–
Police–
- Police report
was passed out.
- Gave permission
to order new ticket books
- Squad car needs
tuned up will go to Bell’s Transmission
Streets
and Alleys –
- There are some
trees that need to be removed.
Porter has already removed the one a Fosters. The willow at the Williams needs to be
removed and a tree/shrub on the north/east corner of Atkinson/Mason St.
Water
-
Garbage
& Sewer –
- No garbage
pick-up on Friday, Nov 27, will take place on Mon, Nov 30
Other
business -
- Board approved a
policy for employees to purchase in Sheffield first. (VanderMeersch cast
nay vote)
- Rosenow reported
that there is a new Census person.
It is important for all residents to be counted as much of our
income is based on the population count.
Board approved motion to promote the Census in all of our media
avenues.
- Porter would
like to hire Luke Lanxon for 3 days a week for the remainder of the month.
Public
–
- A resident
approached the board with an issue concerning a trustee.
The
next board meeting will be held on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the Sheffield
Community Center.
