The Southeastern Iowa Astronomy Club was formed in 1984 by a group of individuals who share a love of exploring the wonders of the night sky. Our focus is to provide astronomy opportunities to the local area, mainly through the use of the facilities at the John H. Witte, Jr. Observatory.
The club maintains membership in the Astronomical League, a nationwide federation of astronomy organizations; and in the International Dark Sky Association, an organization dedicated to stemming the tide of light pollution. Many of our members also maintain individual memberships in various other astronomy-related organizations.
