Tips on finding your pet.
- Visit the shelter. Do not rely on your ability to describe your pet over the telephone.
Everyone
sees an animal through different eyes, and there are a hundred ways to describe
the same animal, it is always best to visit the area shelters and see for
yourself.
- Visit all of the local shelters. Pets
can roam a substantial distance, and the people that find them don't always
take them to the nearest shelter. If its really cute, they just take them
home.
- Check the lost-and-found adds in the paper.
Some people don't bother taking them to shelters. Check the lost-and-found
every day. Remember, if the description is even remotely close, call and
arrange to see for yourself.
- Always act quickly, and check the
shelters twice a week for several weeks. Your pet may soon belong to someone else or be killed, if
you do not claim your pet in the allotted time.
- Don't Give Up too soon. Some animals
have been known to roam for 6 weeks before getting found and turned
in.
Please save lives - spay or neuter your pets and adopt from shelters.
