Walsh High School
Successor to St. Mary's High School and to Catholic Central High School Walsh High School was named for Msgr. J. M. Walsh, who served 25 years as pastor of St. Mary of the Visitation Church and located in the former Wormhoudt home at 402 Chester Avenue. The first class graduated in 1954, the last class in 1960. In 1960, the boys-only Walsh High School and the girls-only St. Joseph Academy were discontinued, and a new co-ed Walsh High School opened in the former Naval Air Station buildings at Ottumwa Airport, with plans made to build a new facility in north Ottumwa.
