Ottumwa Heights College
Cornerstone of the new Ottumwa Heights College and motherhouse of the Congregation of the Humility of Mary sisters was laid in 1958, a year after the devastating fire. The building opened in September 1960. Stations of the Cross in the new chapel were dedicated in June 1961. In 1967 the previously-all-girl college admitted the first male students, and by the end of the decade more than half of the students are Protestant. In 1975 the college celebrates the 50th anniversary of its founding. The last graduation is held in May 1979. In 1981 the Congregation of the Humility of Mary agree to sell the campus to the state of Iowa, to become Indian Hills Community College.
