When my grandmother Haddie was a girl in the early 1900's times were tough here in Oregon and many families struggled to find food. Her mother (my Great-grandmother) who came here from Poland heard of a neighboring family with many children who were having a difficult time finding enough to eat.
She had many mouths to feed herself but Anna couldn't sleep at night knowing that there were children at a neighboring farm going to bed at night with empty stomachs. She invited the entire family over for dinner after Church on Sunday and one little fellow just couldn't seem to get enough to eat.
He fell asleep at the table after the meal they had thought but when they checked they found he was dead. How terrible that an abundant meal was the cause of his passing!
We who don't know starvation and malnutrition should always be thankful for what Our Father supplies for us daily!
We should always give thanks to God that we have plenty and our cupboards and freezers are well stocked with food. Thank You Lord that we do live in a land of plenty, a country that is truly blessed with Your abundance!
Romans Chapter 14 verse 6 tells us: "He that regards the day, regards it unto the Lord; and he that regards not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives God thanks; and he that eats not, to the Lord he eats not, and gives God thanks."
