Pinhole Camera4

#1st Fun Project

I had an idea a while back when I helped to coordinate a pinhole photo swap between interested parties from the Pinhole Discussion List to which I belong. The idea is part exhibit, photo swap and "snail mailed" cameras!

This idea is actually a hybrid of several ventures I have participated in as of late. [I retired and have too much time on my hands :-)] [Actually I'm 1/2 retired. IVC hired me back because they couldn't find anyone to teach what I do. I teach Photo, 3D Design, & Ceramics/Sculpture mornings only]

I have had the pleasure to teach many talented students over the years. Many have said how they miss working in the darkroom now that they are out of school/college and working a regular job. So I came up with a way to maybe give you the chance to “in spirit “ be back in the darkroom and the adventure of capturing images with a pinhole camera. I'm hoping that some of my students might join me in a mini adventure.

I'm trying to keep this as simple as possible but I'm sure I will overlook something.

Here is my plan so far:

1. I will gather a list of interested parties. [They will email me with an okay or desire to join in and send me their snail mail address] I will start the project when I have at least 6 willing participants. I will then send a tentative timeline.

2. I will put together a box of 6 mini 35mm pinhole cameras with exposure instructions and a journal/logbook for thoughts, comments, exposure details or other mental meanderings and a return-mailing label. Each person will take 6 photos then return the box of cameras etc to me. I will develop the negatives and put them on a page that the participant can view and choose which photos will be included on another page as an online exhibit when the event is completed.

3. I only require that the participants be past students of mine and the only cost to them would be return postage and some of their time.

4. If you know other past photo students please send this info on to them. Thanks in advance for your help!

5. So if you are still with me, send an email to this address:   with Yes! In the subject line.

If you can't join at this time, thanks for your time checking this idea out and take care of yourselves! "Keep on
shooting Pinhole" - Chuck Flagg
