Writing Services Amy Farrar has written a wide range of materials, including articles for newspapers, magazines, and trade publications; books; abstracts; direct mail; press releases, brochures, Web site copy, and proposals. During her freelance career, Farrar has written on a wide range of subjects, including parenting, disabilities, general news, health and medical subjects, spirituality, social and environmental issues, and writing (see below). Farrar's travel articles have been published in the LA Times and Saint Paul Pioneer Press. Amy Farrar is the author of The Indispensable Field Guide to Freelance Writing, published in January of 2009 on Amazon.com (for a direct link, you can click on http://AmyFarrar.notlong.com, or go to the Amazon.com site and type Amy Farrar into the search criteria to find the book). The Indispensable Field Guide to Freelance Writing is a wonderful tool for anyone who wants to improve their writing and learn how to break into freelance writing (the book also covers freelance editing, as Farrar does both writing and editorial work). This guide isn’t limited to writing for a specific market. It covers freelancing for magazines, newspapers, book publishers, nonprofits, marketing communications firms, and individuals (all of which Farrar has worked for). It also covers essential aspects of freelancing like marketing and contracts. In 2007, Farrar's first book, Global Warming: Essential Viewpoints, was published by Abdo Publishing. The book, directed primarily at middle school students, is based on extensive research Farrar did at the University of Minnesota. It presents an overview of how global warming came to be, from the Industrial Revolution to the present, what scientists and politicians are saying about it, and what organizations and countries are doing about it. If you have a book, article, or other materials you need written, contact Farrar at amyfarrar@mchsi.com. Farrar is also available to individuals who are working on books and are in need of coaching through the writing process. |
