Farrar Writing & Editing (FW&E) was started by owner Amy Farrar in 1999. Farrar built her business on ten years of experience working in various publishing related positions. These positions included managing editor of a weekly newspaper, staff writer for two international medical trade publications, proposal writer for a pharmaceutical benefits management company, and communications specialist for a nonprofit.
In 1999, Farrar decided it was best to work for herself because she found that working for other companies limited the kinds of projects she could work on. Since going into business for herself, Farrar has worked for a wide range of clients, including newspapers, magazines, book publishers, nonprofits, small companies, individuals, and many others.
Projects Farrar has worked on include articles, proposals, marketing materials, Web content, books, and much more. In 2007, Farrar's first book, entitled Global Warming: Essential Viewpoints, was published and is now available on Amazon.com. The book is directed primarily at middle school students and presents the facts about global warming based on Farrar's extensive research at the University of Minnesota, and the arguments surrounding the issue.
In 2008, Farrar is focusing primarily on writing books, but she is open to other projects. Book topics that fall within her specialty include the environment, culture, social issues, children and parenting, alternative health, health and medicine, and New Age subjects.
Farrar is a sole proprietor and has no employees working for her. She also belongs to several professional organizations that she networks with when she needs additional help.
