The known history of the car
I bought this 1969 Opel GT drag car in Feburary of 07. The car was built in 1986 in Thornton Indiana I am not sure by whom. It was built for himself but he sold it to Dick Stair and it was called THE WACKY RACER. It ran CEA in IHRA . It set and held a NHRA record at Bunker hill dragstrip in Indiana and was mostly raced in the Midwest. At Edgewater Raceway in Dayton Ohio the car was accidentally put into reverse while going threw the traps and flipped it end over end only destroying the body. After the car was repaired the owner got devorced and sold back to the builder that ran in Florida for awhile. The car was brought back to Indiana and sold to Bill West. He ran the car at independent tracks around Indiana the sold it to Larry Ryan in Illinois witch sold it to me. I ran the car a few times last year and I am planning on racing it as much as I can this year. The car was in National Dragster several years ago but I do not know when and I would love to find some old pictures of the car.

I bought the Opel as a rolling chassis and not knowing the much about the car I decided to take it down to the frame and go threw everything so I know the condition. Its kinda a saftey thing, I just feel better about going over 100 MPH now. Its setup as a 1/8 mile car and its alot of fun so far.
