Frequently Asked Questions

How Can Santa Deliver Presents to Everybody in One Night?

With the reindeer traveling at the speed of Christmas Light, Santa can come and go in the "twinkling of an eye." He doesn't need to fill his sleigh with toys for
every single boy and girl in the world all at once; it's really easy for him to make several trips back to his Toyshop to pick up as many loads as necessary.

The Elves have his toy sacks sorted and ready to pack onto the sleigh when it arrives back, so the exchange happens within seconds to get Santa back on
his way.

Santa also has "secret" hiding places located at strategic places around the world, so he can instantly pick up a new load of toys easily and quickly.

Perhaps one of those "secret" hiding places is located very close to your house?

How old are you?

Two thousand years, give or take a couple of years. When the Child was given the First Christmas Presents, I was there. And I have done my duty continuously thereafter.

What does Santa do when a house does not have a chimney or there is a fire burning in the fire place?

Santa likes to keep a few things secret so he can always surprise the kids he is visiting -- all he will say to this question is that he uses a little magic but he *always* finds a way!

How does Santa know whether I have been naughty or nice?

Santa maintains his naughty and nice list (now computerized, by the way), with the help of all the elves who keep track of each person -- you probably aren't even aware they are around you, but elves have a special way of keeping an eye on you. Sometimes if you look quickly enough you *might* catch one peering in a window or around a corner, but you would have to be very fast and very good!

What kind of snack does Santa like left out for him?

Santa loves cookies, of course, but he is always happy to try anything you think he might like -- pick your favorite kind of cookie or snack and Santa and the reindeer will be happy! The reindeer love carrots and lettuce best, of course!

Why doesn't Santa always bring me what I asked for?

Thanks to the elves and your gift lists, Santa usually knows what presents you would like to receive. However, sometimes Santa also knows that your parents, family, or guardians have other special things in mind. Also, Santa does not like to bring gifts that he knows your parents etc. would prefer you not to have -- such as a horse, or a space shuttle, or other gifts that would not be appropriate.

If the fire is going in a fireplace when Santa comes, isn't he going to get burnt?

No, when he comes down the chimney his magic freezes the fire until he steps out of it. His red suit was specially designed by the elves to smother the fire just long enough for him to get through it without getting burned.

How does Santa fit through the chimney?

He was given the magical power to become small enough to fit down any chimney, along with anything he is carrying. He becomes like smoke and can go through the smallest cracks or openings.

What is Mrs. Claus' first name?

Mrs. Claus' full name is Jessica Mary Claus. Her mother picked her middle name after the mother of Jesus.

How many elves there are?

Well, over two hundred, altogether. Some are quite old now (they age, you know, although they do not die) and semi-retired.

Why can't I ever see Santa or his elves?

Santa and the elves are magical and move very quickly. Sometimes, if you are very good, you *might* catch a glimpse of an elf!

What Are The Names of The Reindeer That Pull Santa's Sleigh?

Rudolph, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Donder, Blitzen, Cupid and Comet.

Do Santa's Reindeer Live At The North Pole?

Only part of the year does Santa Claus live at the North Pole. So today we know that the
reindeer live around the secret village of Santa Claus
and the elves (their summer home) somewhere on the Korvatunturi Mountain in the Savukoski county of Lapland, Finland, which is on the Finnish-Russian border.

What Makes Santa's Reindeer Fly?

Long ago, Santa Claus and the elves discovered the special formula of Magical Reindeer Dust which makes them fly. This dust is sprinkled on each of the reindeer shortly before they leave on Christmas Eve. It gives them enough magic to fly right around the world. They can fly very fast: at about the speed of a Christmas
light.

The Reindeer driven by Santa Claus are the only known flying Reindeer in existence. Besides the Magic Dust, Santa's reindeer are fed a "special" diet throughout the year which helps give them the power of flight.

Are Reindeer Really Deer?

Yes they are. Reindeer are a species of deer located
in the Arctic regions of the world.

The largest Reindeer can reach up to four feet high at
the shoulder and weigh as much as 250 pounds. It is believed that there are no longer any wild Reindeer, the entire species seeming to have been domesticated. Each Reindeer can pull up to twice its own weight, making it an ideal animal for pulling a sleigh loaded
down with any amount of cargo.

Thus, nine Reindeer would be able to pull a sleigh with 13,500 pounds of toys for an unlimited amount of time.

What kind of games do reindeer play?

Their favorite games are Leap Deer and Blind Deer's Bluff. They also enjoy playing Reindeer Tag and Hoof Hockey.

Does Rudolph always lead the sleigh?

Rudolph is almost always the lead reindeer thanks to his wonderful bright nose!
