Introduction: Bonnie was five on April 30th 2004. I adopted her when she was about six weeks old. She had lost her mother and her owner and by the loving hand of God He sent me Bonnie. I have kept somewhat of an on-line diary here and I literary have hundreds of pictures of her! I am in the process of rebuilding my entire Critter's page, so please bear with me. I hope you enjoy my beautiful animals, I love sharing them!

Bonnie used to love to do this!
When she was 4!
One of my favorites!

Below are the archived files I transferred from the original Critter page (and recent updates):

Bonnie is a border collie. Very smart. Lately she has been practicing her yard tricks. She is quite adept at burying the sprayer on the end of the hose pipe, her toys, and even wrapping the hose pipe around large trees. It is quite amazing to find the things she digs up from the yard. Sometimes I am fearful as to what she might find next...I will keep you posted as she is forever learning something new.

This is a snapshot (omitted) of Bonnie and me driving down the road taking pictures, I'm the one driving.

UPDATE: Hey, Bonnie isn't a puppy anymore, I'll have to post new pictures of her and Darlin' soon. Bonnie is the most lovable lap dog, did I say lap dog? Well, she thinks she is a lap dog and she is so lovable and just now getting protective of me. She is very intelligent and sneaky, lol. I love her dearly. Oh, she was three on April 30th, 2002. How time flies!

She thiks she is a lap dog!

Bonnie is a full blooded border collie. How I came to get her is not the normal way. I adopted Bonnie. Unfortunately her mother was run over by a car while her owner was in intensive care from a traffic accident. Terrible. I never found out if the woman made it or not. Her husband turned all of the puppies over to the humane society and that is how Bonnie came to me.

Bonnie is the smartest, most devoted and intelligent dog that I have ever had the fortune to have in my life. She is a natural herder though I made her stop herding the cats. She knows my hand signals, my eye movements without my saying a word. If I am sick, she will not leave my side. She looks after all the other animals in the house including the birds. I just can't tell enough you what a remarkable dog my Bonnie is.
Oh, she has so many infection's in her 'dog' voice one can almost understand her language.

UPDATE: 1/21/2003-Bonnie had a nice Christmas. Santa brought her a big toy box in the shape of a bone, several new stuffed animals, a new bed and a big juicy bone that Mama thought just for one moment Bonnie wasn't kidding about biting me when I was pretending to take her bone away.

UPDATE: October 28, 2003-Well, I have neglected this page terribly. My only excuse is that I lost both my parents back to back, Mama in 2001 and Daddy in 2002 but I am trying to continue on as they would have wanted me to.

Bonnie is four now. She never wants to leave my side, which isn't a good thing as I almost never go outside. However, she has about an acre to do her 'bordering,' she is the only dog that I know that has a water bed, she can sense a 'bad' person immediately and she will NOT let me out the front door if she deems it is not safe. I have loved many dogs but never to the extent that I love Bonnie. If time permits, I would like to dedicate a page to each pet so that this page would not load so slowly for those who are on dial-up. I'll do the best I can. Please check back, I will try to be more faithful in my updating and feel free to send this link to your friends.

UPDATE: May 1, 2004-Bonnie was five years old yesterday. I can hardly believe it! Just like children they grow up too fast! She had a nice dinner and after that she gorged herself on a big rawhide bone. I had to take it away from her and it is a good thing I did because today she isn't feeling so good. But how she enjoyed it! I love my Bonnie girl!

UPDATE: December 24, 2004-I think Bonnie is anticipating Christmas, with visions of special treats, big bones as she sleeps. For the first time in ages she went to her toy box and pulled out an old toy. I was beginning to think she had outgrown those stuffed toys! You should see her, I ordered her a red Christmas collar with bells, no less! Attached to that is a blinking Rudolph tag, she is so, well cute! Bonnie trusts me implicitly and the trust is both ways. If Bonnie had ended up on a farm as a herd dog, she would have been the best! All I know is that she has my heart.

UPDATE: February 16, 2005-Something is wrong with Bonnie. So she had a complete physical at the Vet's yesterday. There are several things I am worried about but I won't know anything until tests come back. She is limping, she is up to 72 lbs and she shouldn't be over 50 at the most, she doesn't feel well and just lies around all the time. Did I ever mention that I sing to all my pets? Yes, each pet has their own song, slightly altered. Actually, I love to sing but you wouldn't want to hear me; however, they love it! Bonnie's song has been "My Bonnie lies over the ocean," or perhaps it is just called, "My Bonnie," ever since I brought her home. You should see the look she gets on her face when I sing her special song.

UPDATE: February 23, 2005-I got the test results for Bonnie. She has hypothyroidism. I wonder if she caught that from me? {A little humor.} She has to take two pills a day for a month then return for blood work. What really scared me when I looked at her tests results, (Yes, I always request my pets as well as my own tests results) was that her cholesterol and triglyceride's were off the chart! The vet said that it was because she was obese. All I know is that has to change. Again, as with Bells, this dog goes in for regular check-ups and she gets up to 72 pounds before I have to demand that they try to find out what is wrong with my dog! Something is wrong with doctors and vets these days when the patience has to become the care-keeper. Bells nearly died from the opposite disorder. Boy, am I discussed.

UPDATE: March 05, 2005-Bonnie's medication was decreased and she had lost about six pounds at the time of her last visit to the vet. She seems to be feeling better but hungry all the time as she is on a special diet. By the way, always check, they gave me the wrong dosage of medication when we picked it up at the vet. They wanted to decrease it but I didn't notice it until I had already opened it, it was the same. Yes, they got a piece of my mind!

UPDATE: April 24, 2005-Bonnie has been improving but I had the scare of my life on Thursday morning. Bonnie enjoys sleeping outside on the front porch on cool Spring nights and that she did Wednesday night. However, I discovered Thursday morning that something had happened to my Bonnie. She acted scared and she was very sick, she began throwing up and was groaning and moaning in pain. You know you love your dog when you scoop up dog vomit in a plastic bag to take to the vet for analysis. I thought she had been poisoned, the vet found no indications of that, yet Bonnie suffered for at least 72 hours. I was so afraid I would lose her but she has improved and is back to her spoiled self, I am happy to report!

UPDATE: March 16, 2006-My Bonnie is now down to about 49 pounds, maybe less now. She remains on her thyroid medication, twice daily with periodic blood chemistry checks. She also has a new friend to play with. He is my son's dog but he visit's me a lot. He is a Red nose pit bull terrier. My son adopted him to keep him from being put to sleep at the Animal Shelter. He was six months old when I first met him. Whatever you hear about pit bull's is always bad, but I am here to tell you, Elmo is the most loving dog I have ever had the benefit of knowing. He wants to be as close to me as possible. He really should have his own page but I do have some pictures at Fotki.

Bonnie has a birthday on April 30th. She will be seven.

Someday I am going to post "When Bonnie was injured." Bonnie was only about two and she was fortunate to survive. I have graphic pictures also so I have to think about how I will do this. Why do I write this? Because I want everyone to see what a strong fighter my Bonnie is.
