March is the month that most gardeners come out of hibernation. Pruning, raking, tilling and clean-up will start in earnest. Iowa State University Extension can help you ease into the bustle and have some fun by coming to the 8th Annual Horticulture Chautauqua in Calmar. List of prgrams, presenters, registration form and more at the above link.
Coleen Wymer, LynnPleggenkuhle and Marlys Fink spend hours each spring and summer to keep the flower beds surrounding the old schoolhouse on the fairgrounds attractive.

Master Gardeners are residents of a community who take an active interest in horticulture. They receive training in horticulture through the ISU Extension Service. In return for their training, Master Gardeners volunteer in community and Extension programs and projects related to horticulture.
Anyone with an interest in horticulture and gardening is eligible to become a Master Gardener. He or she should also have a willingness to share their knowledge and experience with others in the community.
Check out the links in the menu (upper left). For more information about the Master Gardener program or the schedule for classes, contact Kathy Steege. Contact info is on the Fayette County Extension page.
