To every thing,
(turn, turn, turn)
there is a season

(turn, turn, turn.)

nicotiana
My never-blooming hyacinth beans (only two seeds!) have at last covered the willow tower. At least they serve by providing a backdrop for the nicotiana "Only the lonely."

Flowers aren't the only color, as this highbush cranberry (viburnum trilobum) proves.

Anemone robustissma

Many of autumn's hues are vivid - oranges and yellows - but this Anemone robustissima shows the softer shades of fall.

The sweet autumn clematis has outdone itself, reaching higher into the arborvitae than ever before - at least 20 ft.

Sunflower
A volunteer sunflower in the vegetable garden has grown taller than any of our apple trees. Can't wait to count the number of heads (when the goldfinches are done with it.)

Fall farewell
The goldenrod's fading, the leaves are beginning to turn, and the wren houses stand deserted.
