Here's how it works,
Rules:
1. All times for each challenge will be turned in within 24 hours after the challenge end time. EXAMPLE: Challenge End Date: Friday, 19 April 2002, 11:59 pm board time, your times must be posted by Saturday, 20 April 2002, 11:59 pm board time, or they will be declared invalid. Exceptions will be made for those with reasonable excuses.
2. The winning driver must post his/her settings/tunings, and a description of their lap, if this is not done, their time will be disqualified. This walk though is very important, it will help some of the other drivers to figure out where they made mistakes, or how to take a turn better. It is also a good way to teach tuning/driving techniques to those who arenšt as skilled as everyone else, thus the whole purpose behind the boards.
3. DO NOT post your times, or even hint to what you are running. This spoils the surprise at the end of the challenge.
4. Gamesharks, Sharkports, and other game enhancing devices are not allowed. Not everyone can afford them, so donšt use them. They give you an unfair advantage over other competitors.
5. No Wall Rides. This doesn't mean that you can't rub the wall but no slamming or bouncing off walls. No leaving the normal line of travel to ride a wall on the far outside. No cutting through the grass or sand. Cars must always have at least two wheels over pavement or rumble strips on tarmac tracks. Pit lane runs are NOT allowed. The course is there for you to run, why use pit lane.
6. Cheating will not be tolerated, if it is found out that you cheated, your time will be disqualified.
Cars:
1. You will use the car that is posted in the challenge.
2. You will use that car with the upgrade stated in the challenge.
3. Tuning and Tires may be restricted in the challenge.
Ranking Challenge
1. Ranking challenge will be run like the last two challenges. Three tracks will be listed and the car to use on them. All will be run in Arcade Mode / Free Run with an Arcade Car. You will run 10 laps and use your best lap time on each track. There was an idea to use tunable cars for the Ranking Challenge to rate not only driving ability but also tuning ability. I think the new format of the challenges will help everyone with the tuning.
Teams
1. There will be 3 Teams with 5+ drivers on each team. Teams will be made from the results of the Ranking Challenges as we have done in the past. With 5+ on a team there should be more team work as there will be more teammates to confer with. Teams will compete on a Team Average Time as in the current Comp. With 5 or more drivers on a team the team averages should be very close. Individuals will be tracked for the Iron Man Standings. For the new guys, the Iron Man Standings are your total time for all the challenges. If you miss a challenge you are dropped from the Iron Man Standings.
Team times will count regardless of the number of drivers.
Team Points will be given to teams after each challenge.
1st 10
2nd 7
3rd 5
6 Challenges in this round. Each team will pick a car and a track, rally, or race. Each team will pick twice. Team 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3 will be the order that teams pick.
100% Clean lap rule is in effect.
Handicap System:
The Challenge cars we will drive are all capable of upgrades.
They will all have at least two NA or Turbo upgrades available.
We will be using the HIGHEST three configurations for the handicap system.
For example, if the car has two NA upgrades, we will be using Stock, NA1, and NA2.
If the car has 4 upgrades available, we will be using NA2, NA3, NA4.
The top three drivers in the ranking challenge will be using the lowest configuration.
The next 9 drivers that place will be using the middle configuration.
The remaining drivers in the comp will be using the highest upgrade.
Here is an example with 15 drivers using a car with 2 available upgrades:
Place Upgrade
1 Stock
2 Stock
3 Stock
4 NA1
5 NA1
6 NA1
7 NA1
8 NA1
9 NA1
10 NA1
11 NA1
12 NA1
13 NA2
14 NA2
15 NA2
All other mods are at the discretion of the Team designing the comp.like weight reduction and other stuff.
At the beginning of the round, the teams will have a perfect balance of upgrades on cars. Each team will have the highest ranking driver in the Lowest Configuration car, while having a few more driving Middle Configuration , and then 1 or 2 guys with the Highest Configuration. It will all be even.
After each challenge, the handicaps are RE-ASSIGNED based on the performance of drivers in the challenge that was just raced.
We will be treating every challenge like the ranking challenge as far as the handicaps go. It does not matter what team a driver is on.if a team races and three of their drivers get the slowest times, they will be using the Highest Configuration in the next challenge. This way, the handicap system will be true to the performance of the drivers. Same as if a driver does extremely well in the challenge.likely he will be racing the next one with the Lowest Configuration.
For all DNRšs that will be racing a challenge following one they missed, they will be assigned the middle configuration by default. I will post a list of the drivers and configurations officially as soon as the first challenge is posted. This goes the same for new drivers that might enter mid round.they will be using the middle configuration.
