Romance Publishers
Since the romance industry changes on an almost-daily basis, keeping an up-to-date list of romance publishers is a daunting task. This list includes publishers who are currently bringing out romance novels, single title books, and women’s fiction. This listing is intended to guide you in further research to determine which publishers are the most likely markets for your book. Current market information is available from Romance Writers Report, the professional journal of the Romance Writers of America, and through a members-only section of the RWA website at www.rwanational.org . Writer’s Market is another good source of market information, either in the printed volume or by subscription online at the Writers Digest website at www.WritersMarket.com . A good basic source is your nearest large bookstore. By browsing the shelves you can determine which publishers are most likely to be interested in a book like yours; the publishers’ website is usually listed on the cover or on the copyright page, and by looking up the website you can read more about the company, their current and upcoming publications, and what they’re looking for. If the publisher offers tip sheets or guidelines, they can usually be downloaded from the website or requested by mail (send a self-addressed stamped envelope and a request for tip sheet information). You can also locate publishers’ websites by searching the Internet; in your search engine, type “name of publisher” + “romance” + “publishing” and one of the first links to pop up is usually the homepage of the publisher’s romance division.
