ARCANAN

Created through a magical ritual gone horribly wrong this race of half man and half beast was named after the man that created and ultimately destroyed it in one fell swoop. The spell that created the Arcanan was intended to bind the bodies and souls of animals and man as one to make a superior race of creatures, wipe their minds clean so as to make them perfect for training and also make them fertile as constructs are unable to birth children. The concept of a race to take their place that can reproduce was quite an alluring one. The spell horribly backfired into a tempest of magical energy, trapping creatures and men alike in a whirlwind of transformation and creating the Arcanan. All memory of the spell and their former lives was erased. This new race was set forth upon the world. The transformation occurred 150 years ago. In the present time their numbers are strong and they are venturing out of the woodlands. Tired of being hunted due to misconception of being "Werecreatures" they wish to show their intelligence, and ability as a capable race. Their language is Common. NOTE: They cannot speak with animals.

 

Arcanan Sub Races
Predator Scavenger Avian Cold Blood

Arcanan (Predator)

Physical Description: Half human and half any large hunting mammal. The males may stand up to 6 feet tall and weigh 185 pounds. Predator male creatures are slightly taller and heavier than Predator female creatures.

Racial Traits:

  • Low light vision

  • +1 spot and listen check, tracking, claws or bite is based on creature mix

Arcanan (Scavenger)

Physical Description: Half human and half any type of scavenging mammal. The males may stand up to 5 feet 8 inches tall and weigh 155 pounds. Scavenger male creatures are slightly taller and heavier than Scavenger female creatures.

Racial Traits:

  • Low light vision

  • +1 wilderness lore, spot and listen checks, +1 initiative

Arcanan (Avian)

Physical Description: Half human and half any type of bird (cannot fly). The males may stand up to 5 feet 6 inches tall and weigh 105 pounds. Avian male creatures are slightly taller and heavier than Avian female creatures.

Racial Traits:

  • Low light vision

  • +1 knowledge Arcane, +1 Concentration, +1 Spellcraft

Arcanan (Cold Blood)

Physical Description: Half human and half reptile. The males and females both only stand 5 feet 8 inches tall and weigh up to 130 pounds.

Racial Traits:

  • Low light vision

  • +1 bluff, hide, poison making, move silently and bite

Examples of animal based sub species choices:

Dingo - Predator Panther - Predator Eagle - Avian
Bat - Avian Iguana - Cold Blood Python-Cold Blood
There are some exceptions to the rule due to size and girth. Some considered scavenging animals would have the predator sub race and vice versa.
