Episodes  **NOTE - the full pages (click on the pic) are full synopsis of each episode, and therefore are HUGE spoilers, be warned. I tried to keep the brief intro's next to each pic spoiler-less, but they might have small spoilers also.   When I started these I would not reveal any characters name, but that became somewhat confusing, so starting with "Captured" I will just use the names as I know them.  If you get confused you can always check the characters page for a quick reference. Episodes outlined in blue are coming soon!

Vol. 1 - Login       March 3, 2003

 1.  The pilot- a character is stuck in the MMORPG called "The World." Other players encounter this player and get drawn into the main plot of the story. This character, Tsukasa, encounters a strange PC cat type creature who seems to know a lot of why he can't get out, and thus the Scarlet Knights (a group trying to keep order in The World) seeks him out for questioning. Tsukasa obtains a guardian which is able of killing a character in the game.

2.  Tsukasa is taken to a new place by Maha, where he first encounters Aura, a young girl trapped in a coma like state within the game.  The few characters who have been pulled into the story are now trying to help Tsukasa and find him to do so, with not much luck. When Bear and Mimiru question Tsukasa about his new found abilities, his guardian attacks them.

3.  Subaru delves deeper into the mysteries surrounding Tsukasa (as do the other characters), but the mention of The Key of the Twilight starts to spark interests in the main players of the game- and begins their quests to find it.  The other characters begin to ask Subaru what she knows of The Key...

4.  The main characters continue their search for answers and Tsukasa becomes a wanted criminal in The World. Tsukasa's guardian has been attacking other players- and even though Tsukasa tries to stop it- he cannot- for the guardian doesn't seem to be listening to him.

5.  Tsukasa now in hiding, waits and learns more while spending time with Aura.  Ginkan and Sora plot a double cross to lure Tsukasa out, and trap him, and eventually capturing him- unbeknownst to Bear, Mimiru, or even Subaru.

Vol. 2 - Outcast        May 6, 2003

6.  In captivity, Subaru talks to Tsukasa and finds out just how real The World has become to him, and decides to free him on his own.  Sora tries to break him out- only to find out he's been released- later only to take full credit.  Tsukasa's former guardian is now running amok The World- and taking out innocent players. Tsukasa returns to Aura and tells the voice he doesn't want to do anything anymore..

7.  Mimiru meets an inexperienced player named A20, and helps her (though not at first) learn the ways of "The World."  Through her Mimiru answers her own question of why she plays the game.

8.  Mimiru wanting to meet up with Tsukasa once more sends him a mail and asks him to meet her at a certain place. She intends to wait there, however long, till he appears.  Suspicion from the Scarlet Knights turns to Sora.

9.  Our heroes investigate what little info they have on The Key of the Twilight, and plan to enlist the help of a super hacker.  Tsukasa encounters a player who asks him to watch her Puchiguso, which turns out to be sick.

10.  Bear has feelings of being a insufficient father, and looks to Tsukasa to fill that void. Subaru gets a bit closer to Tsukasa and BT and Crim delve further into the clues left behind on the BBS concerning The Key of the Twilight.

Vol. 3 - Gestalt       July 15, 2003

11.  Mimiru decides to do an online quest and forms a party with Bear and Tsukasa. Sora also decides to come after Tsukasa, while he is doing the quest.

12.  Aura is mysteriously covered in vines and Maha asks Tsukasa about going back to the real world, and if he really wants to. Bear and Subaru discuss what will happen to Tsukasa player when and if he wakes up.  BT and Crim discuss more about  The Key of the Twilight.

13.  The players have figured out how to open the Eye of the Twilight, and plan to follow the path it will open. BT, Bear, Mimiru and Tsukasa all plan to go in, but BT is planning with Sora to do otherwise. Bear finally meats up with Helba.

14.  BT, after opening the Eye, follows the path along with Crim into a "broken place" and they begin their search. Bear, Mimiru and Tsukasa eventually follow and also make it into this forgotten realm.  Sora shows up and has a showdown with Kurim, as he wants to find the Key first.  What the players find is rather a broken man.  After speaking to him the place begins to break apart, and the characters flee- but not before one of them gets injured...

Vol. 4 - Omnipotence        September 2, 2003

15.  Recap Episode. A few new scenes shed light on what is to come, but most is flashbacks to previous episodes.

16. Tsukasa suffering from his attack in ep 14 awakes in Aura's domain, he seems to be find, and learns he cannot die in this place- but will come back. The other players know not of what happened to Tsukasa, but want to find him.  Tsukasa meets up with Subaru and they have a small talk where she reassured him of his situation.  Mimiru recalls Tsukasa's reaction to something the broken man said, and wants to find him to know what.

17.  BT seeks more about The Key of the Twilight and beings searching on her own, asking for help from many of all the players.  She goes off on her own, and encounters some players who want to help- she joins them only to find out they tricked her, she is saved by Tsukasa and reveals to him the meaning of her name.  BT also asks Crim to meet outside of the game, and we get a glimpse of who BT really is in the Real World.

18.  Ginkan and the other Scarlet Knights want to go after Sora, for being a player killer.  Subaru is against it saying that is not the purpose of the Scarlet Knights.  They go back and forth about the purpose of the Knights, and finally Ginkan tells Subaru he had contacted the system admids and they wrote back to Subaru. After rethinking a lot of what the Knights have become Subaru decides to disband them.

 

Vol. 5 - Uncovered         November 4, 2003

19.  We learn about the past of Subaru and how she founded the Scarlet Knights.  Later, Subaru is wandering the world and word of her disbanding the Knights has spread.  She is attacked by another character, and comes to find Tsukasa badly beaten. They bond even closer and we see a glimpse of the real life Subaru.

20.  The other players come together and follow Bear's suggestion on making an end to the reason behind the Key of the Twilight.  Subaru and Tsukasa continue to bond, and he decides to take Subaru to Aura's domain, but when they get there Aura is missing.  Subaru meets up with Mimiru and tells her she thinks she should not have left Tsukasa alone in that place.  Tsukasa gets drawn to the bed, and something attacks him from the sky, and he left lifeless on the bed.

21.  Tsukasa seems to have disappeared and the others begin looking for him.  Tsukasa is in a coma like state, sitting against the bed.  Crim encounters a unbeatable monsters who appears to be decaying, or "broken."  They others decide to try and enlist the help of Helba.  Aura is in a new place, and Maha is scolded about his feelings toward Tsukasa, it's a dark place and ominous.

22.  Bear, Mimiru and Subaru are planning on returning to the broken man and encounter another unbeatable monster, yet are saved by an old friend of Subaru's. We hear more of Morgana's intentions.  Our hero's learn more from the broken man, and Tsukasa starts to show signs of coming to. Sora discovers the realm of Morgana and gains knowledge from her.

 

----- Vol. 6 -----

23.  All the players are coming together to meet Helba, and go through her special gate, even Tsukasa. He meets up with Crim beforehand and is scared to go.  The gate appears and one by one they go through- save Subaru who is determined for Tsukasa to show up.

24.  The other players are in a new realm, a place where old and lost data is kept.  Subaru's waiting pays off and Tsukasa finally appears and they go through the gate.  Our players learn a lot from Helba, and start to formulate a plan on what to do next.  Subaru and Tsukasa bond more, and learn more about each other.  They figure out that the enemy is after Subaru and they need to protect her, a battle ensues.  Tsukasa makes the decision that the does want to log out.

25.  The players leave the Net Slum and separate for a bit, but meet up again in the Church and safeguard Subaru and Tsukasa. Sora is sent after them by Morgana and is given help by her to defeat them.  A great battle ensues, and Tsukasa decides to fight back and not run anymore. Maha starts to disobey Morgana, and is hit by one of her creations.  Subaru and Tsukasa are transported to an  unknown destination.

26.  The Finale!  Tsukasa, Subaru and Mimiru are separated in a special field, and encounter alternate versions of each other.  They find Aura (now awake), return to the NetSlum and are chased by Skeith.  Helba deletes the field, and Tsukasa is finally able to log out.

 

27. **This was released as a pre-order bonus for the last volume of the DVD's in Japan**  The story is a giant flashback told from Mimiru's point of view. The story is 2 years before the end of .hack//SIGN and tells how Mimiru began in "The World" and why she plays as she does.
