Sunny
The newest addition to the fleet!

Debbie enjoys fishing, and while we can fish from Jubilee (and from Rogue once she is back in the water) on the Illinois and Mississippi rivers, there are also a few small lakes in our area that are closer.  The problem: They limit motors to 10 h.p. or less.  We already had a motor--the 8  h.p. Mariner that came with Mystique.  All we needed was a boat to go with it!

My choice was Jim Michalak's "Jonsboat"  (Plans can be found here).  Just a 16' basic plywood  boat (I didn't even cover the bottom with fiberglass as is the custom today), we launched her just a few days ago as I write this (September 7, 2009), and took her out fishing three days later.  She's a fun boat, and does well on only 8 h.p.--about 11.5 m.p.h. with both of us aboard, and over 14 with just me.
Launch day!  Debbie and Peanut inspect Sunny at the dock at Macomb, Illinois, Spring Lake Park, September 7, 2009.
Sunny as "attention getter" at our U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary boating safety display booth at "Hooverfest" in West Branch, Iowa, August 1st, 2009.
Sunny on roll-out day; her first day on Rogue's highly modified trailer.
Sunny as pieces of plywood and lumber laid out on our lawn.
