Becoming a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary

The Coast Guard makes a considerable investment in each member of the Auxiliary, so it is vital that only those serious about their commitment begin the membership process.  It is not about just sending in your dues each year and putting on the uniform.  Memershipis a process, but please don't let that process discourage or intimidate you.  You will have an Auxiliary mentor to help you through it step-by-step.  You don't have to understand each item in the list below; we understand it all and we'll help you get and stay on the right track!

New Member Enrollment

Once you have decided that you want to be who we are, the leaders of your new flotilla "home" will begin to assemble a New Member Enrollment Package, which consists of:
1. Enrollment application forms
2. ID card form and photo
3. A copy of a USA Birth Certificate, U.S. Passport, Certificate of Naturalization, Certificate of U.S. Citizenship, Report of Birth Abroad of a Citizen of the US, Certificate of Birth issued by U.S. Department of State or Certificate of Birth-Foreign Service, as applicable.
4.  Security forms and fingerprint cards (see note below).
5.  Your first year's dues check (Compared with what we receive in FREE training and equipment from the Coast Guard, the dues are incredibly small--our dues are $29.00 [yes, that's not a typo--twenty nine!] this year!)

Note:  The Coast Guard is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and all members of the Auxililary are required to pass a security background check.  PLEASE don't let this frighten you!  It is not an extensive, invasive digging into your personal life,  and you will NOT be receiving a "top secret" clearance or anything of the kind.  The fact is that even as Auxiliarists, we will sometimes have access to sensitive Coast Guard information, and so it is vital that the Coast Guard knows that we are reliable.  It also gives us, as Auxiliarists, the confidence in knowing that we can depend on the other members of our team.  If you are a parent, we're certain that you want to know that the people who are working with your children in our schools can be trusted.  The American recreational boating population has the right to know that we, in the Auxililary, can be as well!

All ready to go?

The next step would be to actually come and get to know us by attending one of our flotilla meetings.  Attending a meeting DOES NOT place you under any obligation--you're a visitor, and you are welcome to drop by, have your questions answered, and see if the Auxiliary is an organization you want to be part of.  We believe that once you see who we are and what we do, you will!

To find out the date, time and location of our next meeting, you may either:

We hope to meet you soon!
