Where We've Been
A Bit of History
The Burlington Flotilla received its charter from the Coast Guard on 22 July 1942. Before that the members were a unit of the Coast Guard "TEMPS", serving as guardians of the Mississippi River from Lock & Dam #19 in Keokuk, Iowa, north to New Boston, Illinois.
2006 Flotilla Member Accomplishments
Debbie Ayres
Completed ICS 700 and 800, and Good Mate courses.
Continued as Finance Officer for Division 8
Kurt Ayres
Re-elected to serve as Vice Captain of Division 8 for 2007
Led Division 8's first team to the District Search and Rescue competeition, with the team taking second place.
Completed final specialty courses, achieving AUXOP status
Continued serving as Qualification Examiner
Completed ICS 700 and 800, and Good Mate courses.
Named co-Auxiliarist of the Year for Division 8 in 2006 along with the other three members of the DSAR team.
George Peek
Elected Flotilla Commander of Flotilla 87 for 2007
Apppointed Public Education officer for District 8WR
Continued as Public Education officer for Division 8
Was member of first team sent by Division 8 to the District Search and Rescue Competition, with the team taking second place.
Named co-Auxiliarist of the Yeat for Division 8 in 2006 along with the other three members of the DSAR team.
Served as Auxiliary liaison officer to Cutter Scioto
Worked with MSD Peoria on vessel examinations
Completed ICS-300
Michael Van Der Horst
Elected Vice Commander of Flotilla 87 for 2007
Continued as Communications officer for Division 8
