Hey folks. Here's a list of nifty sites I like to visit. They very from serious to absolutely absurdly funny. I hope you enjoy these sites as much as I do, and if you find a busted link at any time, just visit the contact link on my site and let me know.
- Demonoid In my opinion, this is the best torrent site out there.
- Bookshare Here's a good way for blind people to get their hands on some of the world's best books, and for only 50 bucks a year, not a bad price.
- The Zone BBS An interesting gaming and bulliton board site that works well with screen readers. Check my contact page to find me there.
- NLS BARD A great way for members of the National Library Service to start building that book collection you've always wanted.
- Clay-King Price-wise, the best online ceramics distributer I've found.
- Big Ceramic Store They carry some stuff that other suppliers don't, and they have an interesting database of tips that I've learned loads from.
- American Ceramics Society clayart discussion list archives Probably the biggest source of information for the novice to expert ceramic artist. They categorize this archive nicely, and have a pretty handy search facility too.
- American Ceramic Society clayart list If you're interested in actually talking with real ceramic artists, rather than reading messages they sent ten years ago, then here's the page you join. The people on the list are really nice and helpful, and they're quite interested in how blind people function in the studio.
- Star Trek The official Paramount home for Star Trek.
- Star Wars Here's the official Lucas Film Limited Star Wars site.
- The Third Option The official home for Vince Flynn.
- YouTube Ok, this one's a bit voguish, but some of the stuff on here are funny. Love the manualist guy, nothing more exciting than a guy who can do hand farts to whatever tune he wants to play.
- Severe Studios A group of trained weather spotters/storm chasers, doing what they love to do, with cameras in their hands. If you ever visit, check out the video archives and look for the 6/11/2008 footage of the Moorhead, Iowa tornado, even the audio is awesome!
- Black Viper This guy puts together the best Windows services tweak guides, glad to see he's back on the net. If you have no idea what a Windows service is or what you're doing when tweaking those services, then don't visit this site, or you're machine will explode!
- unknown I'm not sure exactly who runs this site, but it's the best description I've seen yet for exactly what RAID means, how to determine whether you need RAID, and what RAID type you need. If you're not a power computer user with the need for stringing multiple hard disks together, avoid this site.
- Science News The best source for science information, and they do a great job of explaining things for those not exactly familiar with the topics at hand, without dumbing down the subject either.
- Wikipedia Some might consider this not to be a true encyclopedia or a very reliable source of research material, but everything I've pulled off here has matched up well with other, more traditional, research sources.
- Dumb Laws This site specializes in bringing you the dumbest laws still on the books in the United States, always good for a laugh or twenty.
- Cleveland Clinics Headache and Migraine As a migraine sufferer, I found this web site to be quite helpful on what questions to ask my doctor and what things I can do in my life to keep from suffering migraines all the time.
- Norman Endocrine Surgery Clinic When my doctor suggested I might suffer from a poorly functioning thyroid, here's the best site I found that describes exactly what it means to have low or high thyroid function, the dangers, sympthomes, and questions you should ask your doctor.
- Klingon Translator Here's a translator site that's truly out of this world, translates from English to the Klingon language from Star Trek.
- Port Forward If you have a app that's supposed to connect to the internet and won't and you're behind a router, then maybe you need to forward some ports. Here's a list of common router models and how to forward common app ports for that model.
- Mayo Clinic Stickler's Syndrome I recently began researching the disease that robbed me of my sight as a child, and this Mayo Clinic article laid out the other components I never knew about in a clear, understandable fashion.
- Speak Up If you're blind and want or need to use Linux, these guys might just be able to help you get your hands on a version of Linux right for you.
- SendSpace A nifty site that lets you upload files you want to attach to e-mails, but might be far too big for your isp's servers to allow.
