You'll need mat board, fleece (not batting, but fleece - it's about 1/8" thick and sold either pre-packaged or by the yard. JoAnn Fabrics has it displayed with the interfacings), double stick tape or white glue (I use Adhesive Transfer tape - a 3M product available at office supply stores), invisible thread, cotton fabric for backing material, a small amount of polyfil stuffing, and a ribbon for hanging.

When finished stitching the design, cut a piece of the cotton fabric the length and width of the design area plus 1/2 inch or so extra each side (obviously, neatness in cutting is not essential here). :-)

Cut the mat board the size of each face (side) of the ornament minus about 1/4 inch (the sides on the ornament shown above measure 1-5/8 inch x 1-5/8 inch - the mat board is cut 1-3/8 inch x 1-3/8 inch). Cut fleece the same size as the mat board. Using double stick tape or glue, attach the fleece to one side of the mat board.

Using the invisible thread, stitch a running stitch around the outside edge of face #1 (side #1) of the ornament - you are making pockets in which to place the fleece/mat board sandwich. You'll want to stitch two sides of the pocket, slip the mat board/fleece sandwich inside (fleece side facing the ornament fabric), then finish stitching the other two sides of the pocket. Repeat for all faces of the ornament.

You are now ready to assemble your ornament. Find the horizontal center of face 1 along both the top and bottom edges (the red line). Place face #1 and face #2 right sides together. Stitch a double running stitch, either with invisible thread or floss, diagonally to the center of the side as shown. Do this for both the top and bottom of the ornament. Repeat, placing face #2 and face #3 right sides together, etc. leaving the last side open.

Turn your ornament right side out. Stuff with polyfil to give it some shape. Fold the raw edges as you have above - it may be helpful to run a basting stitch in a contrasting color thread along the fold lines to make it easier to assemble. Whip stitch the entire length of the opening closed. Don't forget to add your loop of ribbon for hanging before closing up the last bit!
