The American Cichlid Association (ACA) has established a Club
Liaison Program. The role of Club Liaison was created to act as an intermediary
between the ACA and local aquarium societies. The aim is to facilitate timely
communication between the ACA and the local clubs, to effectively promote the
activities of the ACA and to promote cichlid events that are operated by the
local clubs. The aim is to ensure that local clubs are kept informed of cichlid
events that are being hosted by other clubs. There is no requirement for the
local clubs to join the ACA.
The tasks associated with the position of Club Liaison
are:
1. Establish a database of local clubs with contact persons
from each of them.
2. Work with the ACA web-master to ensure that the local club
data is posted online.
3. Maintain regular e-mail contact with the local clubs,
supplying them with pertinent information
concerning the ACA and responding to queries that the clubs may have
regarding the ACA.
4. Ensure that the database is maintained with up to date
information.
5. Encourage local clubs to supply information on
cichlid-related events or activities that they are
hosting. Supply that information to the other registered local clubs
in a timely manner.
Note: Each local club will be required to appoint a contact
person (delegate) who has ready access to e-mail, as this will be the medium
used to facilitate the transfer of information.
If your club would like to participate in this program, thereby
enjoying a timely exchange of information on cichlid related events, please contact
me. I will need the name of the club, the name (and e-mail address)
of the contact person. I will follow up from there.
I
have been asked “What’s in it for the local
club?”
I
think one of the benefits of this program is that you will be able to get the
message out to many local clubs whenever you are having a cichlid related event.
Hopefully, this will increase attendance at your events. Increased attendance
can mean increased revenue from auctions, and possibly new members.
Additionally, you will be notified of events being held by other clubs that
might be of interest to your members. The idea is that more hobbyists are
informed of cichlid related events held by local clubs and have the opportunity
to learn more about cichlids.
We will list member clubs on this web-site (which is linked from
the ACA site) and this can include a link to your club’s site. This should
assist non-members in your area to find you - more potential
members.
You get this at no expense. All you have to do is nominate
someone to receive the e-mails and to send out your messages.
