Rants and raves not long enough for a short column:

Yikes, this is one of my least visited sites! Of the 105,203 page views for January, this site received
a whopping 29! So, I think I'll put my efforts into my homepage, which
received 8,279 page views. Bye for now.

According to Drudge Report (consider the source): "Proposing new political language about abortion rights for an increasingly skittish Democratic Party, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday that friends and foes on the issue should come together on 'common ground' to reduce the number of 'unwanted pregnancies' and ultimately abortions, which she called a 'sad, even tragic choice to many, many women.'
Clinton, in a speech to about 1,000 abortion rights supporters at the state Capitol, firmly restated her support for Roe v. Wade.
But then she offered warm words to opponents of abortion and said that faith and organized religion were the 'primary' reasons teenagers abstained from sexual relations." Sounds like Hillary is serious about running in 2008! She is right (and I can't imagine I said that) that
the key is reducing the number of "unplanned" pregnancies. And the key to reducing that is a strong abstinance program.

"Sir, are you absolutely sure we have the right target?!"
Monday 01.17.05
According to the Washington Post "President Bush said the public's decision to reelect him was a ratification of his approach toward Iraq and that there was no reason to hold any administration officials accountable for mistakes or misjudgments in prewar planning or managing the violent aftermath.
'We had an accountability moment, and that's called the 2004 elections. The American people listened to different assessments made about what was taking place in Iraq, and they looked at the two candidates, and chose me.'"
First, Bush won by less than 2 percent of the vote! And 56 percent of American disagree with his handling of Iraq! Second, that
attitude of arrogance and lack of accountability is what got us into Iraq in the first place! Sorry for all the exclamation points!

This just in from CNN: "A federal judge in Atlanta, Georgia, has ruled that a suburban county school district's textbook stickers referring to evolution as 'a theory not a fact' are unconstitutional." Hello? Evolution is a theory
and disputed by many scientists including
Professor Louis Bounoure, Director of Research at the National Center of Scientific Research. He writes "Evolution is a fairy tale for grown-ups. This theory has helped nothing in the progress of science. It is useless."

Can someone help me understand this? Hollywood's poster couple, Brad and Jennifer, have "decided to formally separate." But here's what I don't understand. In a statement from Pitt's
publicist, the couple announced, "We happily remain committed and caring friends with great love and admiration for one another." Huh?! Sounds like they need to read
my article on the psychology of broken marriages.

The Smoking Gun website has just released what it calls "confidential law enforcement and government reports, grand jury testimony, and sealed court records provided to TSG by sources" in the Michael Jackson case scheduled for trial January 31. The details are lurid, but
we need to remember that Jackson is innocentstrange but innocentuntil convicted by a court of law. Also, there are some bizarre theories of what caused Christmas Day's tsunami published on the 'net. Here's one that actually
makes sense.

Wow! www.jameswatkins.com registered over one million 'page views' in 2004. It's actually 1,092,119, but who's counting? ('Page views' are an entire web page. 'Hits' include all the text and all the graphics. We had over four million hits, but page views are a
much more accurate picture.) Thanks for supporting my rants and resources! And, please, let me know if there's anything that would make this site
more helpful. Click on email link to the left.

Here’s how 31,484 cnn.com readers ranked events of 2004:
1. Election 2004
2.War in Iraq: transition, terror and turmoil
3. Hurricanes pound Florida
4. Red Sox beat Yankees, then win World Series
5. Ukrainian election contested
6. Ronald Reagan dies
7.Terror: Madrid bombing, Russian school siege, alerts, hunts and
court rulings
8. 9/11 commission hearing, report, and intelligence reform
9. Morality split: Gay marriage, Pledge of Allegiance, 'Passion of
the Christ’
10. Yasser Arafat dies
The World Series?! What a small, small worldview! Not even George Bush's reelection can compare to the magnitude of 125,000+ lives lost in last week's earthquake/tsunami. Sometimes I'm
embarrassed to be an American!
