PROPER SCENT CONTROL STARTS BEFORE YOU GO INTO WOODS.
A CLEAN BODY, CLEAN CLOTHES, AND A HIGH QUALITY CARBON SUIT ARE YOUR BEST LINE OF DEFENSE AGAINST AN ANIMALS NOSE. A GROUND BLIND BEST CONTROLS YOUR SCENT BY KEEPING BREEZES FROM HITTING YOUR BODY AND CARRYING SCENT AWAY FROM YOU. TAKE CARE TO KEEP THE BLIND ITSELF SCENT FREE, UTILIZING THE QUALITY SCENT ELIMINATION SPRAYS ON THE MARKET, AND STORING IT IN A CLEAR PLASTIC BAG ANY TIME IT MAY PICK UP UNWANTED ODORS. IN MEETINGS WITH GREG SESSELMANN, CO FOUNDER OF SCENT LOK(TM), IT WAS DETERMINED ACTIVATED CARBON IS NOT A COST EFFICIENT OPTION FOR USE IN A GROUND BLIND. REACTIVATION IS A PROBLEM, AND CARBON IMPREGNATED INTO THE WALLS OF A BLIND IS OF NO VALUE UNLESS AIR IS FILTERED THROUGH IT.

Beware of manufacturer claims that carbon in the walls of a blind can be reactivated by the sun. Even if it were true, all the odor adsorbed would be released in the field, defeating the purpose. Carbon collects odor... it does not eliminate odor. High tech carbon suits adsorb human odor, then they need to be reactivated in a dryer where the scent released is of no effect to your hunting area.

SIMPLE PHYSICS SUGGEST AIR WILL TRAVEL IN AND OUT OF THE BLIND TAKING THE PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE, WHICH IS EITHER IN AND OUT OF THE WINDOW OPENINGS, OR BETWEEN THE GROUND AND THE BOTTOM OF THE BLIND. TO CHANNEL THERMALS AROUND THE BLIND, SWEEP THE NATURAL GROUND DEBRIS FROM YOUR SET TO COMPLETELY FILL ANY GAP AT THE BASE OF YOUR BLIND. IF YOU FEEL A BREEZE INSIDE THE BLIND, IT MEANS SOME SCENT IS ESCAPING. TO COUNTER THIS, KEEP CLOSING WINDOWS TO MINIMIZE SCENT LOSS.

Nets
Most blind companies are building their units with the less expensive nylon or polyester fabrics. These blinds require netting the windows to try and hide movement inside the blind. The real purpose of netting blind windows is to reflect enough light to hide the dark window openings that spook the whitetail. Whether it is a dark circle, square, oval or triangle, it’s something a mature whitetail has never seen in the woods, and a mature deer tends to greet ‘new’ things with a sense of fear. The dye process used on the TNS netting we manufacture is unique to the hunting world. It reflects 30% more light, while minimizing eyestrain associated with common mosquito netting. Fixed blade heads and most “unwinged” mechanicals fly great through our net. Some of the larger cutting mechanicals that put the stompin’ to a spring gobbler, will not fly through netting.
