Doug reviewed the minutes of the meeting held on April 24 at the National Weather Service. Scott D. asked Doug to determine if there is a room at the next meeting site, U of I East Annex building, where we can hold our business meeting. Doug will call Wilford Nixon, who will be our host to determine this. The minutes were approved as read.
Scott D. went over steps for sending e mail to ILLOWA members.
Scott D. asked for changes in the bylaws as they stand now. The only change was to change National Weather Service on the bottom of the first page to National Weather Association. Scott D. moved that we approve the bylaws and Doug seconded. The bylaws now stand approved on a voice vote and Scott D. will send them in to the NWA national headquarters.
Scott D. suggested we take nominations for officers in June and vote in July. Lee moved that we open nominations now and Doug seconded. We will need a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer. Lee nominated Scott D. for president, Scott D. nominated Doug for secretary. Jim Meyer suggested Jeff Zogg for treasurer and Lee asked if Ray Wolf would accept vice-president. Jim will see if Ray would accept. Nominations for officers then ceased.
Scott D. suggested we may want to skip the August meeting due to conflicts (primarily Scott’s wedding). Scott D. also pointed out that the Central Iowa Chapter is hosting a field trip to the wind farm in northwest Iowa and on Wed. June 16th there is a fire weather workshop hosted by the Central Iowa Chapter at the Comfort Inn in Urbandale, Iowa. Let Scott D. know if you are interested.
Lee moved that we adjourn the business meeting. Marvin seconded. The meeting adjourned at 12:28 PM.
