Association Serving Eastern Iowa and
Northwest Illinois
April 24, 1999
The meeting began at 10:02 AM on April 24, 1999 and was hosted by the National Weather Service in Davenport, Iowa.
The following were in attendance (18)
Mike Deveru Ray Wolf Jarod Deveru Marvin Myers, Jr.
Joyce Sizek Lee Sizek
Paul Collinson Bob Johnson
Jeanette Schaal Dave Towne
Larry Scott Jason Waterius
Tom Cooper Doug Beadle

Tom Ervin Neil Kastor
The minutes from the March 20th meeting were approved on a voice vote. Scott told everyone how to get on the e mail list if we are not. Ron had a copy of the proposed by laws which looked good to everyone. Ron determined we would need a budget of $25,000 to incorporate. This does not make sense at this time. The only remaining business we need is to define a quorum.
Lee Sizek said he thought the by laws would fly the way they are right now. In reference to voting by e mail, it could be done legally in Iowa but not in Illinois.
A person must still be 18 to be a member of the NWA, we are checking to see if you need to be 18 to be a member of the chapter. Scott moved we review the by laws and approve any changes at the May meeting. Doug seconded and it passed on a voice vote.
Lee questioned whether we want to set our dues At $10. Tom pointed out this can be changed at any time. We will keep an eye on the money we need. This motion passed on a voice vote.
Scott said the Severe Storms Conference in Des Moines was larger than ever. The Central Iowa chapter is not sure they want to give it up.
Doug will look into getting a tour of Wilford Nixon's ice lab at U of I for the June or July meeting. It was decided that Doug, Ray and Tom would be on the program committee. The May meeting will be held at 11AM on Saturday, May 22, 1999 and will be in either Cedar Rapids or the Amanas. It will be a dinner meeting. Scott will check into restaurants were we could have the room free if we ate there. Jim Meyer or Ray Wolf will bring a big screen setup. The meeting adjourned at 10:56 AM.
