The business meeting began at 10:10 AM. There was no copy of the November minutes available so they will be approved at the next meeting. The National Weather Association has still not sent us the approved by-laws. They told Scott that "these things take time". There is a possibility of getting Brian Smith, WCM in Omaha to present a talk at our next meeting. Brian worked with Ted Fujita at the University of Chicago. The tentative date for this meeting is March 10th. Scott brought three meetings to our attention. The Central Iowa Chapter meeting on March 15th with a presentation by a storm chaser, the Severe Weather Conference from March 31st to April 2nd in Des Moines and the severe weather training by Jim Meyer/NWS at St. Lukes in Cedar Rapids.

Scott also brought up possible future meetings. One long-range idea is to get a national convention to Cedar Rapids. In that event we would handle the hotel and arrangements but not the program. There is also a possibility of a "So You Want to be a Meteorologist" conference that we could offer to high school students. Tom Kramer, Marvin Myers and Doug Beadle will gather ideas for this. We will also plan a picnic for summer. The business meeting adjourned at 10:30 AM.

Jeff Zogg introduced Ray Anderson of the Geological Survey Bureau who gave an interesting talk on "Earthquakes in the ILLOWA area. Ray gave an introduction to earthquake physics, a historical review of Iowa earthquakes and a summary of the New Madrid earthquakes.
