The Beatles, for ever!

John and Yoko Lennon

John Lennon was always my favorite Beatle.  He wasn't the cutest but he certainly was the one to change my world with his intelligence, wit and irreverence. In many ways John's life influenced mine and especially the creative part of my life.  He was a remarkable man who was taken from us all too soon.  In creating this page, there were so many songs to choose from, but if it is possible for me to have a favorite, it is "Woman."  This song reminds me of the last part of John's life when he had apparently gotten himself together and he wrote this song for his beloved Yoko. But it also reminds me of some of the happiest days of my life when a young musician used to sing "Woman" for me. Nevertheless, do not think I am sad. I am not. Not for love.

1991 - John Lennon is posthumously awarded a lifetime achievement Grammy Award.

When the music died...
I still remember what I was doing on that cold December night in 1980 when the music died. It is hard to believe that it has been twenty-four years since Mark David Chapman killed John Ono Lennon in cold blood after stalking him, even getting him to sign his autograph earlier that day. That was the wonderful thing about John Lennon, he was a 'working-class' hero, he would walk the streets of his beloved New York City and talk to people like he was one of us.
He cared deeply about people, peace and made large contributions to his causes.
I always hated it that people made fun of the women he loved. I thought how cruel can people be, if one loves someone why not be happy that they are happy? John had found that happiness with Yoko and I for one was so happy for them.
Yoko has done so much to preserve John's music that was never quite finished, she has done so much to see that John's light shines on. Here's to you, Mrs. L!
John Lennon was not like us, he was a man before his time, a genius in his own right and though John David Chapman killed the man, he could never kill the spirit of John Lennon; his words, his music, his ideas, his ideals.

John's self portrait {To John} A lot of people misunderstand your message in "Imagine." The religious right thinks it means you didn't believe in Jesus or God. Others think you are a communist among other things. But you were right John, you are 'not the only one.' I for one share your dream for Peace and like you understand that, yes, some things are worth fighting for, VietNam wasn't one of them and neither is the war we are in now. There are just too many greedy, lying people in the world and they don't get it, John. Only some of us do. 'But we all shine on,' and your star is particularly bright!

Everybody's talkin' about bagism...
