Their son George HOHENSHELL (1819-1846) married Mary SMUTZ (1823-1901), whose Children became educators at college and secondary level and authored several publications.

OBER - DAVIS - DOTTS
I just finished reading "Wildwood--Middle of the Island" by George F. Boyer.
My great grandfather was Cecil E. Ober, b. 2 May 1874 in New Brooklyn, NJ and d. 25 Jan 1958 in Northfield, NJ. He is buried at Cold Springs Pres. Cemetery. He married an "Mary Sharp", b. 11 Oct 1877 in Philadelphia, PA and d. 24 Oct 1948 in Wildwood Crest, NJ. They lived in Holly Beach (before it became Wildwood). He was a member of the Holly Beach Fire Department, a member of the Board of Education, and a building contractor. His home use to be at 129 East Hand Avenue and later Buttercup Road.
Cecil Ober's father was William G. Ober, b. 1848 in Onion River, VT and d. 5 Oct 1942 at or in Wildwood, NJ. He married "Amy Davis", b. 12 Oct 1857 in Williamstown, NJ and d. 23 Aug 1926, presumably in Wildwood, NJ.
I am trying to locate the parents of "Amy Davis". When I read the book listed above, I found a "John Davis" who was one of the nine men who formed the Holly Beach City Improvement Co. in Vineland, NJ on 4 Apr 1882. My question: "Is this John Davis the father of Amy Davis?" I also found a "Richard Davis" in the book who was a member of the Wildwood Fire Department in 1896. He was the Fire Marshall in 1898. "Could this "Richard Davis" be Amy Davis' brother?" There is a "Jennie Davis" listed as a student of Wildwood School in 1901. Is this "Jennie Davis" the daughter of "Richard Davis"?
I found it interesting that Cecil Ober was a member of the Holly Beach Fire Department and the "Richard Davis" was a member of the Wildwood Fire Department (before they were merged into one department.) I also found it interesting that my dad was named, "Richard Ober" Dotts. Coincidence or family???
Has anyone researched the Davis family living in one of the Wildwoods in the late 1890s and early 1900s?
Has anyone researched this Ober family and know the ancestors of "William G. Ober" ?
