MCCARTY/BRAMEL

I am searching for details of George McCarty, born 1870 in Cape May, and died in 1936, possibly in Staten Is, NY while visiting his son, Harrison, but he and his wife Annie Bramell McCarty (1864-1943) lie together in the Dennisville ME Cemetary, South Dennis.According to the 930 census he was employed as a janitor by Ocean City, which my mother could confirm. They are the parents of Clara and Harrison. I know nothing of Harrison but the mention in family of his living in NY, but of Clara I know this: she was born in Dennis NJ, 1892, married Maurice Gandy (?date), and had one child, my mother, Margaret G. Gandy who is still living. Clara died in the influenza epidemic (1919) I've been searching for information about the McCarty family without luck so far. On the Bramells and Gandys I have been making progress. Both Clara and Maurice lie in the Tuckahoe ME Cemetary. Thank you for any assistance. 12 JAN 2003, Susan Miles, suesmiles44@hotmail.com

BABCOCK/BADCOCK, SMITH, BARRETT, JOHNSON

Seeking information on John Babcock/Badcock born about 1803 in NJ and died between 1850-1880 in NJ. He lived in Cape May Co., NJ and was a farmer. John married Martha (nee Smith?). The children living in the household in the 1850 Middle Township, Cape May census include Thomas, Emelina, George, Nathaniel, Theodore, Marietta, Joseph H., James, Morley/Manley, and Judia. Theodore is whom I am a descendant of and was born in Goshen, Cape May Co, in 1837. He went on to marry Caroline Barrett. Theodore was a seaman and resided in Atlantic County. I can't find John in any census following the 1850 census report, but have found Martha in the 1880 census living with her son James in the Cumberland Co. Her marital status was widow. I am suspicious that John of Cape May Co. is the same as John Babcock, Jr. born in Atlantic County, son of John Babcock and Amy (nee Johnson). Siblings would be Joseph, Beasley, Sarah?,and another daughter?. I think this because he appears in the 1830 census as John Babcock Jr. near two Babcock's being Joseph, and John. This census was taken in Egg Harbor Twsp., Gloucester County, NJ. In the 1840 census he disappears from that area and is now in Mullica Township, Atlantic County as John Jr. (the number of children matches up). He then is missing from this area in the 1850 census and the only John Babcock/Badcock with son Theodore is located in Cape May Co. I do have additional information on descendants in this line. If you can offer any information about John and Martha Babcock/Badcock it would be greatly appreciated. 14 APR 2003, Dana Chaika, dchaika@yahoo.com

SPRINGER, FOSTER, LUDLAM, CHESTER, RITCHIE, ROBINSON, McKAIG, FOWLER, CORSON, HAND

Those are some of the Cape May surnames connected with the line of Samuel Robinson SPRINGER June 09, 1789 - January 25, 1872. Looking to add info to what I already have. Immediate question is: I'm looking for the parents of Burton Davidson Corson who married Lyda (not Lydia) Springer in 4/1909. Lyda is presumed to be the daughter of James Ludlam Springer and Mary Eldredge Broderick. Lyda is b.4/3/1890, d.1958. I saw on ancestry.com a 'Lydia' Springer who married a Burton D. Corson but the dates are all wrong for Lyda, daughter of James and Mary. Please email me with any SPRINGER info/questions that might connect to mine for Cape May County, not that I will have the answers ;). Also, I am open to suggestions as to who is the Benjamin, d.1803, father of Samuel Robinson Springer. AND who is the Benjamin, father of Dennis Springer, both mentioned on a land transaction involving a Robinson family. And finally, maybe, how are the following related: The Dennis Springer who bought land from Abraham Jones and then sold it to Joseph Springer AND the Benjamin who witnessed the will of Abraham Jones. Too many Benjamins and Dennises! 01 MAY 2003, Melissa Springer Robards, pezealogy@charter.net

I have copies of letters that Aunt Fannie and Uncle Jim wrote to my grandfather after WWI, when he was hospitalized from Mustard Gas poisening. MATHIS - ERRICKSON - BOICE

I have traced most of the MATHIS family, except a JOHN (Jack) MATHIS and his first wife, ANNA, and their children who lived in Green Creek, NJ during the years of 1950 through the 1960s (that I know of). JOHN/JACK was a brother of my grandmother, OLIVE ERRICKSON 1897-1979 (who married ALDEN T. ERRICKSON 1895-1976 of Green Creek, NJ). Uncle JACK, (as he was known to me) and his wife, Anna had a large family and I would like to make contact with any of them to help in this Genealogy search. I would appreciate anyone being part of or knowing this family to please contact me as I am in Florida and don't have any of their children's names. I do know most of the children were girls and that they have married and their names have changed. JOHN MATHIS and OLIVE MATHIS (ERRICKSON) parents were: JOHN WESLEY MATHIS 1869-1950 and ELMIRA BOICE 1872-1928. I am also searching my grandfather's ancestors, PETER(S) ERRICKSON, b. Jan. 8, 1789, d. Jan. 25, 1842 at age 53 yrs. PETER married RUTH (TABITHA) ????. Not sure if this is a last name or maiden name or even spelled correctly.. Their children were: 1. WILLIAM, b. 1813, d. 1897, m. CLARESSA DOUGLAS. 2. PETERS, b. Feb.13, 1817, d. Nov. 30, 1901, m. ELIZA NEWTON 3. JOHN, b. 1822. m. JANE CORSON 4. GEORGE, b. 1825, d. 1869, m. LAVINA BECKWORTH 5. BARCLAY C., b. 1830, d. 1858 (drowned at sea at age 28). Seems I have really hit a brick wall on these two families, so any help anyone could give on this would be very much appreciated. I am also willing to share any information I have to date with those who can connect to these families. 25 OCT 2003, Shelli L. (Weatherby) Miles, nikilobo@aol.com
