Carrie Newcomer is a popular singer-songwriter who April discovered by catching a concert at Illinois Wesleyan University's "Blue Moon Coffeehouse." A well-known singer-songwriter across the nation, Ms. Newcomer performs annually at the "Blue Moon Coffeehouse" and is one of their most popular acts. Wade saw his first Newcomer concert in September 2001. That was a special show coming the weekend after the September 11, 2001 attacks. She had written a very nice song about her feelings after the attack ("I Heard an Owl") and sang it for us that night. Ms. Newcomer released "A Gathering of Spirits" (the album with "I Heard an Owl" on it) September 10, 2002. Her writing is smart and heartfelt. During her latest stop at the Blue Moon, Ms. Newcomer promoted her new retrospective CD "Betsy's Diner." Pictures from the show are found below, and the banner above is also a link to her official website. There you can learn a lot more about Ms. Newcomer's activism, her music, and how to purchase it. If you haven't seen it in a while she has revamped it for "Betsy's Diner"'s release and it is very nicely done.
